Responsibilities

Helpdesk Support

  • Sets-up, configures, and maintains desktop and laptop computers and PDAs.
  • Provides level 1 and 2 IT support for all FDM computer users based upon helpdesk ticket input
  • Recommends solutions to hardware and software problems including dental imaging technology.
  • Documents solutions to common computer hardware problems.
  • Repairs computer hardware at the component level or schedules technical   services for malfunctioning hardware.
  • Schedules and performs, or supervises preventative maintenance and repairs      on computers and peripheral equipment at all locations.
  • Regularly updates the equipment inventory databases to ensure accuracy.
  • Stays current on emerging trends in computer hardware and software.
  • Performs network administration tasks as instructed by the IT Infrastructure Manager

Telephony

  • Maintains and schedules repairs of telecommunications equipment at both the corporate and office locations.
  • Install additional phone lines, jacks or fax lines as needed at the dental offices.
  • Administers all hardware and software associated with the Shoretel VoIP system
  • Creates new sites in the VoIP system as required
  • Responds to office helpdesk requests for schedule changes and call flow issues
  • Delivers reporting as outlined by the operations teams
  • Engages VoIP partner(s) and phone company to resolve VoIP issues

Other

  • Provide support for dental office audio and video requirements, including coax cable runs when required
  • Provide support for other office technology such as game units.
  • Support dental office surveillance systems.
  • Assist the IT Infrastructure Manager on all new office openings and office renovation projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the IT Director or Chief Information Officer.

Independent Action

Under the general supervision of the IT Director, regular duties performed by the Senior IT Systems Administrator may require frequent independent judgment.  The Senior IT Systems Administrator must consult with her/his supervisor regarding problems or confrontation, policy issues, expenditures, and unusual problems

Qualifications

Position Qualifications

  • A minimum of 1-3 years of experience in the same or similar position
  • Familiar with industry standard concepts, best practices, and routine procedures related to the installation, configuration, management, and health of server and network based systems
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in break/fix desktop support and printer support
  • Knowledge of a Shoretel VoIP system is preferred.
  • A minimum of an Bachelor degree in the field or related area
  • Comp TIA certification is a plus
  • Working knowledge of Shoretel VoIP, VLANs and CoS/QoS preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills interacting with all team members at every level of the organization
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; capable of explaining simple procedures in writing or verbally, good phone skills
  • Strong organizational skills and documentation skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to succeed under deadlines and able to follow instructions accurately
